**Ultrasound and Doppler of Acute Compartment Syndrome.**

___ Acute compartment syndrome is a limb and life-threatening surgical emergency.

___ Limited time window to save the patient (action needed within the first 4-6 hours).

.

**B-mode findings :**
* Bulging of inter-osseous membrane away from the affected compartment.
* Increased echogenicity of the leg muscles on the affected compartment.
* Partial loss of pinnate / striated pattern of these muscles.
* Increased skin and subcutaneous size and echogenicity of the leg.

**Doppler Findings :**
* Absence of veins.
* Reduced time of systolic component from increased resistance resulting in Spike or Needle waveform pattern.
* Reduced time and phases of diastolic component from increased resistance resulting in multiple short spikes or even absent diastolic component.
