Either bilateral (drusen—incidental and asymptomatic) or unilateral (choroidal osteoma—distal to the optic disc and associated with tuberous sclerosis). The extra-ocular muscles commonly calcify in the elderly.
CT
• Drusen appear as flat discs of calcification overlying the optic nerves.
