CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM INFECTION WITH HIV AND AIDS

“Two-thirds have intra-axial central nervous system infection at some point. 

The most common manifestations are 
  • HIV encephalitis, 
  • toxoplasmosis, 
  • cryptococcosis, 
  • cytomegalovirus, 
  • herpes simplex virus, 
  • mycobacterial tuberculosis, 
  • progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy and neurosyphilis
